Dieter Rams (b. 1932, Wiesbaden, Germany) is one of the most influential industrial designers alive. Best known for his work with Braun and Vitsoe, Rams has shaped the visual and functional language of everyday objects for more than six decades. As Design Director at Braun, Rams created an iconic range of audio, video, and domestic appliances defined by clarity, precision, and restraint. Parallel to his work at Braun, Rams designed the 606 Universal Shelving System and 620 Chair Program for Vitsoe, establishing modern classics still in production today. Rams is also renowned for his “Ten Principles for Good Design,” a manifesto that has guided generations of designers and continues to resonate in the age of digital technology.
